Moving Away from Black and White Thinking..
I was talking to a friend the other day about New Years and the love/hate relationship many people have with this time of the year. My friend said he thought the New Year was an arbitary time to review and goal set. That we could do this at any time of the year. He also thought it could put too much pressure on accomplishing something or not, as if intentions exist on a black/white spectrum. They happened or they didn’t. You succeeded or you failed.
If you read my newsletters regularly, you know I love the New Year. Yes, sure, we could review our life any time of the year, but many of us don’t. And we could see review as a time to endlessly berate ourselves for all the goals we didn’t accomplish and how we fell short, but it doesn’t have to be.
You have my permission (because I am clearly the one to offer that. ;) to make the New Year anything you frickin’ want.
It can be a time you decide you are definitely done with that thing or that person (cigarettes, alcohol or a toxic person), but it doesn’t have to be. It can also be.. a time to look at what directions you walked in last year and consciously choose if you wanted to continue walking in that direction or not. You can walk as fast, or as slow, as you want towards those things you want in life. You can choose to care about more this year and what you put on the back burner and care about less for the time being.
This year I am walking a lot more towards nutrition work, integrating this work into my existing work, and adding new things. I am also integrating in things I have always loved - like mindset work and nervous system support into my retreats AND my nutrition work. It’s all supportive and all on the same road walking in the same direction.
In that vein, I have an exciting announcement to make!
I am offering my first Functional Medicine Nutrition course. It’s in it’s BETA version before I offer it completely independently so it is very reasonably priced at 49e a session, with a discounted price if you do all 12. It is also client-driven in that you come with questions and concerns, and I will come prepared to answer your questions you submit in advance, but I also mold sessions around common themes you want help on.
12 part Balance Your Hormones workshop series both in person in Munich and online. I developed it because it frustrates me how little we are taught about our bodies, how little we understand the relationship between our body systems, and how hard it is to know what questions to ask our doctors, what labs to run, what to eat, or whose advice to follow. So whether you are a menstruating female suffering from painful periods, heavy bleeding, hormonal migraines, low energy, or you suspect, or have been diagnosed with a hormonal disease like endometriosis, fibroids or PCOS, you seek to get pregnant or fuel yourself during or after your baby, or looking to smoothly transition into perimenopause or menopaus.. This workshop is for you. The first session is an Intro to Hormones and Healthy Hormones and you can expect to:
Gain a deeper understanding of your body, it’s role to help your hormones and strategies that can be used to assist in hormonal balance
Understand the deep-rooted causes to hormonal imbalances and disruptors to hormones
Understand the play of our stress hormone system and blood sugar system in hormonal balance
Learn nutrition strategies, foods, herbs and supplements that support healthy hormonal balance
And last , understand hormone testing available and have access to cutting edge functional labs I run in my own practice. The first workshop is on Sunday January 26. Details are here. If you can’t make it in person in Munich or if you want access to recordings, send me a message and I will hook you up!
But I have been making steps in this direction for the past 3 years. I hope you walk in this direction with me. There could never be a better time.
