Late summer in Sicily: Nature, Food, and Yoga

Join me in late summer September 6-13 for a late summer trip to the fantastic island of Sicily! I first visited Sicily in my semester abroad as a bright-eyed 19 year old college student. I recall most the delicious food, the wild, rugged coastlines, stunning beaches , the untamed wildflowers on the islands many hiking paths and, of course, the friendly, jovial nature of the locals -human and animal. Many people consider Sicily to have the best food and wine of Italy. Which is quite a feat!

We will stay at Salinara, a charming historic 18th century farm, a short walk from the Mediterranean sea, and surrounded by antique salt marshes, vineyards, and olive groves. Students have apartments with views over surrounding vineyards and the Mediterranean Sea. Most have a private garden, terrace or balcony. The atmosphere is enhanced by natural lime-washed walls, hand-made majolica tiling, and of course all modern comforts such as air conditioning, high-speed internet, and a private kitchen or kitchenette. It’s a perfect mix of rustic charm and modern, cozy comforts. :) It’s no wonder it was featured in photoshoots for film and fashion shoots (including Vogue)! Salinara is located in the Western side of the island, close to the historical center of Marsala. History or architecture buffs may want to take one of the centers bikes and explore the city by bike!

We practice yoga in the morning and evening a stunning indoor shala with nearly wall-to-wall windows, so you almost feel outside! Dine al fresco and enjoy a large brunch and dinner with farm fresh fruits and veggies, local Sicilian delights (veg and non) and for those who enjoy an occasional class of wine, selected by a master Somelier. This is definitely a retreat for foodies!

Price: Early Bird: 1630e for 7 nights shared/1850e for single.accommodations including brunch and dinner nightly, all yoga and meditation classes. Late Bird: 1690 shared /1910e single

The closest airport is 15 minutes at Trapani, but I suspect most people will find abundant flights into Palermo. I can help coordinate students into carpools to the retreat center for an additional fee. We eat all meals at the center and have access to sea and nature, but for those who want to visit other parts of the island, you can rent a car independently (although there is no need unless desired).
